Factors In the Selection of CNC Bending Machines

CNC bending machine purchase is the first important thing to consider is the parts you want to produce; the point is to buy a machine that can complete the processing task. Carefully consider the grade of material as well as the thickness and length of the work being done. If the majority of the work is mild steel with a thickness of 16 and a length of 10 feet, then the free bending force does not have to be greater than 50 tons. However, if you are doing a lot of bottomed concave die forming, you should probably consider a 150-ton machine. Assuming a 1/4" thick material, a 10‘ free bend would require 165 tons, while a bottomed die bend (corrected bend) would require at least 600 tons. If most parts are 5 feet or a little shorter, the tonnage is almost halved, thus significantly reducing the acquisition cost. Part length is quite important in determining the specifications of a new machine.

Deflection of CNC bending machines.
Under the same load, a 10-foot machine table and slides show four times the deflection of a 5-foot machine. This means that a shorter machine requires less shim adjustment to produce a qualified part. Less shim adjustment in turn reduces lead time. Material grade is also a key factor. Compared to mild steel, stainless steel typically requires about 50% more load, while most grades of soft aluminum require about 50% less. You can always get the machine‘s tonnage chart from the bending machine manufacturer, which shows an estimate of the tons per foot of length required at different thicknesses and in different materials.

CNC bending machine operating procedures.

1. Strictly abide by the safety operating procedures, according to the provisions of the labor protective equipment to wear.

2. Before starting must carefully check the motor, switch, wiring and grounding is normal and solid, check the equipment manipulation parts, buttons are stalled in the correct position.

3. Check the overlap and solidity of the upper and lower dies; check whether the positioning devices meet the requirements to be processed.

4. When the upper slide and each positioning axis are not in the home position, run the home position program.

5. After the equipment is started, it should be airborne for 1-2 minutes, and the upper slide should be moved for 2-3 times with full stroke.

6. Work should be unified command by a person, so that the operator and the feeding and pressing personnel work closely together to ensure that with the personnel are in a safe position to send bending signals.

7. Sheet material bending must be compacted to prevent the bending of the sheet material warped injury.
